Hello, my name is Mathew Owen. I am a Dutch/American who first came to Krakow in 2008 under odd circumstances after my university in the Netherlands burned down and I was given the opportunity to do an exchange program in Krakow, Poland. As a young architecture student, I quickly fell in love with the city and have many great memories. After completion of my exchange program, I continues my studies in Amsterdam and later completed a master’s degree in architecture in Barcelona Spain. In 2013 I moved back to the United States and ran a business in architectural design and digital fabrication until the pandemic in 2020. In late 2020 I moved back to Europe to take care of a family member and as of December 2020 I am back in Krakow and want to share the knowledge that I have built up over the past decade and am in the process of rebuilding my company here. While I am rediscovering the city I also wanted to reopen a project that I started back in 2010, the “Best of Krakow”. This was actually a project that I started after my exchange program, however, due to financial reasons and time limitations I was unable to adequately pursue this goal and complete the project. Since this time I have come to realize that I wanted to create something more than just another travel website, in fact, my main goal is to help connect locals and create a database of information for locals to enjoy, not only tourists. (draft version, website under construction, more to come)
